PAT AND DIETER's TRAVELS
The trip over
We left Sydney for the long trip to Majorca on SQ via Milan and Barcelona. It was a massive journey - first transfer in SIN for Barcelona via Milan - finally touched down he following day local time 9am. We had over 2 hours before our Vueling flight to Palma de Majorca - we found the self-service checkin and after some stuffing around managed to get our 2 bags checked in. From here we went to the lounge (Priority Pass) which was really nice - better than any domestic lounge in Australia. We boarded our fight on time - flight time was 30 minutes but door-to-door more like 1 hour. After landing we caught a taxi to our hotel, Melia Palma Marina about 20 minutes and 23EUR away.
Fortunatley our room was ready so we dropped our bags and went to check out the lounge (called The Level) which was included in our hotel room. The lounge serves snacks and drinks, including beer and wine so we had a welcome drink and a few snacks. From 5-7pm they ramp up the offering with a tapas buffet and liquor for mixed drinks.
Back in our room, a 1 bedroom suite we unpacked and then showered and had a short sleep. We hit the lounge again for happy hour intending to make the tapas our dinner but the selection was pretty basic so we had a light meal at the hotel's only (open) restaurant - it was most forgettable.
Back in our suite we found that the lighting in the living area was hopeless - one dim standing lamp.
