Itinerary & trip over

• June 23-24: SYD-SIN overnight at the Crowne plaza then SIN-FRA

• June 25-25: Overnight at the Hilton at Frankfurt airport

• June 25: Collect our hire car and drive to Rothenburg - spend one night there

• June 26: Drive to Tuebingen - stay 5 nights

• July 1: Flixbus to Zurich - stay 2 nights

• July 3: Train to Lugano - stay 7 nights

• July 10: Local train to Locarno - stay 10 nights

• July 17: Train to Andermatt - stay 10 nights

• July 27: Train to Zermatt - stay 7 nights

• August 3: Train to Zurich, stay overnight, fly home via SIN

So here we are on Monday morning 9am waiting in the SQ lounge for our 11am flight to Singapore. It's been a bit stressful in the lead up to this trip - mainly because we both suffered from colds over the past couple of weeks. Then when we did online checkin for our flights to FRA, it would not issue Dieter's board pass saying he needed to go to the counter for a document check.  This has become an issue in recent years as Dieter's latest biometric passport spells his name as Schaefer while all his identification only has Schafer.  Well of course when we checked-in there were no issues ..... go figure.

The flight to SIN was excellent, a fully loaded A380 but the service was a 10 out of 10. We landed at 5:30pm local time and sailed through immigration - a scan of  our passports at the e-gates and all done - completing the online SIN entry form made this so easy and totally automatic.

We checked-in to the Crown Plaza hotel (connected to the airport) for our over-nighter. We had a walk around the Jewel complex then went to Alora, the hotel's Italian restaurant. With Happy Hour still on (2 for 1 drinks) and a 20% discount for hotel guests it was "perfect" - a shared mushroom focaccia and a shared pizza washed down with 2 G&Ts and 2 beers.

So it's now Tuesday morning and we're ensconced in the SQ lounge having a quick bekkie before our 11am flight to FRA.
